The company originated in Pukekohe  in the 1970’s from the dream of a man, David Irvine, who decided he wanted practicality as well as performance.  The first compressor  designed was so a tradesman could lift and fit a compressor into the back of his Cortina Station Wagon, capable to run 2 nail guns all day for many years.  This dream grew to a very large reality and by the mid 90’s the company had expanded nationwide and Precision Air had over 60% market share. David sold the business in 94 and the company was run by a succession of owners until 2000

In amongst all of this, was Spraytech, a distributor in Hamilton, who’s owner was also passionate about the Precision Air Icon.

After 12 years of selling Precision Air, Ross Gardiner- director of Spraytech NZ put his hand up and purchased Precision Air in 2000.  “ Like that Remington shaver advert ...I liked the  product so much,  I bought the company”  jokes Ross. Six years later in a very different market to the 80s & 90’s, Precision Air is one of the last remaining companies that still manufacture their own NZ designed and built tanks. “We still offer custom built equipment  and we still do assembly in New Zealand employing New Zealanders.”

One of the secrets to the success of Precision Air  is the long standing relationship of over 25 years with ABAC a world leading manufacturer of compressors from northern Italy.  ABAC incorporates  leading technology with IS09001 certified production for assured product quality & reliability.

Today Precision Air  is proud to be able to stand firm as a supplier of quality European manufactured product with full after sales and parts service. This may seem difficult  in a market place flooded with similar products from Asian origin with dubious or inconsistent quality and little or no after sales support where price on the day seems to win, but we are convinced that Precision Air is better value for money as these machines will be operating years after many cheaper units will have been dumped as un-repairable,  and really  Precision Air is not much if at all more expensive anyway.  The question I often ask a customer is; “what is the value of a broken machine, when you cannot get a part to fix it ? ”.  Furthermore Precision Air  is a member of the CAAA (Compressed Air Association of Australia & NZ. This is an organization formed in 2002 to regulate a true rating on compressors output at a time when air delivery  “was measured by a salesman's piece of string”.  CAAA has devised a simple but effective way of  calculating a true output of  FAD (Free Air Delivery)   in order that the customer is actually  “getting what he is paying for”.

You are assured of  our commitment to quality and after sales service and we hope you buy Precision Air for a better longer and enjoyable experience with a machine you can depend on.

Yours Sincerely

Ross Gardiner
